The society is a not-for-profit organisation with the primary aim of preserving freshwater angling. Annual membership fees provide society income which is prioritised towards payment of yearly administration, rents, on-going maintenance and fish stocking. Any year-end positive income balance is assigned to future fishery development and larger maintenance projects.
To support participation in freshwater angling the society sets full membership fees at a comparably low level, provides reduced payments for senior citizens, those with disabilities and younger members, as well as providing free joining for juniors. Day membership tickets, which are priced in a similar way to full membership, are also available.
As a result of the support offered above, positive year-end income levels are limited, necessitating several years of careful budgeting to accumulate the sums required to deliver fishery development and larger maintenance projects. In today's financial climate donations play a critical role in raising the necessary budgets.
